doug stanhope -- the great white stanhope

The Great White Stanhope is the debut stand-up comedy album by Doug Stanhope. Released in 1998 by Uproar Records. The CD has been renounced by Stanhope, who was so dissatisfied with the final product that his follow-up CD, Sicko, was created solely to replace The Great White Stanhope. For this reason, the majority of the material presented on his freshman effort also appears on Sicko. The most well-known bits not included on Sicko include: "Jizzed by Hertz" and "Death from Above".

no kids -- come into my house

2008

No Kids' appropriation of contemporary r&b puts them in a lineage that runs from Orange Juice's Chic-style guitars and Scritti Politti's soulful balladry to Hot Chip's self-aware electropop-- and, alas, labelmate Hey Willpower's un-FutureSex-y Timberlake sounds, too. When the compositions are as engaging as the intricate percussion, as on advance mp3s like piano-based male-female duet "For Halloween" or the falsetto-frosted "The Beaches All Closed", songwriter Nick Krgovich conjures a world of empty vacation homes and full scrapbooks.

the cure -- disintegration

1989

Disintegration is the eighth studio album by English alternative rock band The Cure, released on 1 May 1989 by Fiction Records. Nearing the age of thirty, vocalist and guitarist Robert Smith felt an increased pressure to follow up on the group's pop successes with a more enduring work. In spite of the record label's fears that the album would be "commercial suicide," Disintegration became the band's commercial peak. It charted at number three in the United Kingdom and at number twelve in the United States, and produced several hit singles including "Lovesong", which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. Disintegration remains The Cure's highest selling record to date, with over three million copies sold worldwide. Disintegration was also a critical success, being placed at number 326 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time".

salter cane -- sorrow

2010

Salter Cane are an unsigned alt-country band based in Brighton, UK. They cite their chief influence as Joy Division and are often compared to Nick Cave, primarily due to Chris Askew’s vocals. Other members of the band are Jamie Freeman on drums, Jessica Spengler on bass and Jeremy Keith on bouzouki.

Salter Cane's second full-length album, Sorrow, has a harder edge and even darker heart than their first self-titled release. Growling acoustic guitar, soaring vocals and driving drums are accompanied by the band's trademark wailing bouzouki sound, creating an atmosphere which creeps relentlessly from melancholy to menace.

my weekend--"always look through pink-tinted glasses"

check out my friend's blog for the full story [artofstew]. but, i was at a bar and hanging out with my friend [artofstew]. we just got done playing a few games of pool. we were finishing our last drinks and trying to decide if we should bother the girls at the bar. we had been talking about the hot red head for a while. i was personally trying to decide if [artofstew] was going to talk to the red head or the bleach blonde friend of red head. when fate intervenes. a 57 year old woman pushes her big body into the booth, so i'm pressed up against the wall, wide-eyed and trying to imagine quickly what i must do. she begins to confess strange things to me with determination while a friend of hers tries to get her up, on her feet, and away from me, saying "come on. i'm playing some b.b.king. dance with me."

murder by death - red of tooth and claw

2008

Red of Tooth and Claw is the fourth full-length album release by Murder by Death and marks the first record the band has released on the Vagrant record label. The title comes from a Lord Tennyson poem called In Memoriam A.H.H. It was recorded by Grammy winning producer Trina Shoemaker at Dark Horse Studios in Tennessee and was released on Vagrant Records, on March 4, 2008.

Red of Tooth and Claw is, as singer/guitarist Adam Turla puts it, a "Homer's Odyssey of revenge, only without the honorable character at the center."

moto boy

Oskar was born on 2 August 1980 in a small village in mideast Sweden called Färila, and he grew up in neighbouring cities. On a holiday in England his father took him to a cathedral and when he heard the choir he loved it. Moto Boy, whose real name is Oskar Humlebo, is a guy who performs with only his black heavy-metal guitar and fantastic voice. Think boy choir, David Lynch, Jeff Buckley.
